'Dying for an idea,' again, sounds well enough,
but why not let the idea die instead of you?
It is the cause and not merely the
death that makes the martyr.
Our admiration is so given to dead martyrs
that we have little time for living heroes.
?Elbert Green Hubbard
Martyrs are needed to create incidents.
Incidents are needed to create revolutions.
Revolutions are needed to create progress.
A scholar's ink lasts longer than a martyr's blood.
Martyrdom does not end
something, it only a beginning.
A thing is not necessarily true
because a man dies for it.
Martyrdom has always been a proof of the
intensity, never of the correctness of a belief.
Although prepared for martyrdom,
I prefer that it be postponed.
